Fefe Dobson was born Felicia Lynn on February 28, 1985 in Toronto, Ontario. Her mother is of Irish, Dutch, and English descent while her father is a Jamaican. Her father left her family when she was young and she stopped seeing him when she was 13.
On her 11th birthday, her mother had given her a karaoke which eventually she learned how to use. She then recorded a demo a demo of 24 songs from various artist such as Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, and Madonna. But was less successful in finding a record company, she also decided to give song writing a try.
